Annette Chism – Senior Director

The Director provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for all aspects of environmental health and safety across the institution. Under the Director's leadership, the EHS department manages Dartmouth's chemical, biological and radiological use programs, and oversees occupational, construction and research safety. The Director plays an essential role in campus EHS emergency preparedness. In addition, the Director is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of Dartmouth's environmental compliance programs consistent with best practices in academia and industry. 

Jason Angell – Associate Director Research & Occupational Health

Under general oversight of the EHS Director, this position directs and oversees the Dartmouth-wide comprehensive Research, Laboratory Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Hazardous Materials/Waste Programs to ensure the minimization of risk related to injury and non-compliance with regulations. Program management is accomplished through, planning, implementation, providing regulatory guidance and oversight, technical assistance, consultation, and education and training. Position supervises Dartmouth’s Radiation Safety Officer, Biological Safety Officer, Chemical Hygiene Officer and other EHS laboratory and occupational health safety professionals.

Bree Carlson – Associate Director EHS Compliance & Fire Safety

Under general oversight of the EHS Director, this position directs and oversees the Dartmouth-wide comprehensive Occupational Safety, Fire, and Environmental Programs to ensure the minimization of risk related to injury and non-compliance with regulations. Program management is accomplished through, planning, implementation, providing regulatory guidance and oversight, technical assistance, consultation, and education and training. Position supervises Dartmouth’s Environmental, Fire, and Occupational Safety personnel.

Lars Barr – Occupational Health Specialist

Under the general direction of the Industrial Hygienist, the Occupational Health Specialist will
inspect workplaces and work procedures for adherence to regulations on health and environmental issues, develop and implement occupational health training programs, coordinate employer-required employee health testing and reporting, and collaborate with other departments and entities to promote health and safety programs and operations across campus.

Marley Carroll – Industrial Hygienist

Under general oversight of the Associate Director, Research and Occupational Health, this position oversees the Dartmouth-wide comprehensive Occupational Health Programs to ensure the minimization of risk related to injury and non-compliance with regulations. Program management is accomplished through, planning, implementation, providing regulatory guidance and oversight, technical assistance, consultation, and education and training. Position supervises EHS Occupational Health professionals.

Jeff Cogswell – Research & Chemical Hygiene Officer

Direct and oversee the comprehensive Chemical Hygiene Safety Program that exists to ensure the safety of all Dartmouth employees, and students as well as the public from sources of chemicals and hazardous wastes. The Chemical Hygiene Officer (CHO) also act as a representative for the broader Dartmouth Research and Laboratory Safety Programs by participating in emergency response actions and must be familiar with other research and laboratory safety policies and procedures not directly related to chemical safety. Position supervises Lab Safety Specialist. This position will promote a positive, and proactive laboratory safety culture.

Matt Dunn - Research & Radiological Safety Officer

Direct and oversee the comprehensive Radiation Safety Program that exists to ensure the safety of all Dartmouth employees, and students as well as the public from sources of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation (Radioisotopes, Lasers and X-ray producing equipment) as well as magnetic field devices. The Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) also acts as a representative for the broader Dartmouth Research and Laboratory Safety Programs by participating in emergency response actions and must be familiar with other research and laboratory safety policies and procedures not directly related to radiation safety. This position will promote a positive and proactive laboratory safety culture.

Evaluate and analyze work environments and design programs and procedures to help prevent harm to workers. This position will promote a positive, and proactive occupational safety culture.

VACANT – Environmental & Occupational Safety Officer

Responsible for the oversight of Environmental Programs, permitting, training and compliance requirements. Use a combination of project management, technical knowledge, and communication skills to support and manage projects and programs. This position will promote a positive, and proactive environmental and occupational safety culture.

Chet Litteral – Construction Safety Officer

Under general oversight of the Associate Director, EHS Compliance and Fire Safety, this position is responsible for monitoring the implementation of, and compliance with, the College Construction Safety Program. They will communicate construction safety program requirements to college project managers, construction management personnel, and contractors. This position will be charged with cultivating an ethos of construction safety best practices across the organization.

Erik Pietrowicz – Research & Biological Safety Officer

The Biological Safety Officer (BSO) also acts as a representative for the broader Dartmouth Research and Laboratory Safety Programs by participating in emergency response actions and must be familiar with other research and laboratory safety policies and procedures not directly related to biological safety. This position will promote a positive, and proactive laboratory safety culture.

Sharon O’Hearn – Laboratory Safety Specialist

Under general supervision, perform a variety of tasks in support of Research and Laboratory Safety Programs with a focus on chemical inventory and adherence to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) lab standard. Work with laboratory personnel to integrate chemical safety into all lab operations and promote safe work practices.
