Ergonomics
Ergonomics is the science of fitting workplace conditions and job demands to the capabilities of the working population. In the workplace, the number and severity of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) resulting from physical overexertion and their associated costs can be reduced by apply ergonomic principles. This Ergonomics Program ensures workers know about ergonomic hazards and the steps to protect themselves and others.
About the Program
- Employers are responsible for providing a workplace free from recognized hazards. The Ergonomics Program is applicable Dartmouth-wide, where ergonomic risk factors are possible for WMSDs.
- Dartmouth College has a unique population and a wide range of job activities. We have individuals in administration, food service, custodial service, trades, research, teaching, and transportation. Each of these setting have unique challenges that must be addressed individually.
