The assessment of waste found at CRREL is ongoing. Preliminary test results for analysis of groundwater samples—including analyses for VOCs and 1, 4-dioxane—did not indicate contamination. However, three of six soil samples detected formaldehyde concentrations that exceed the New Hampshire Soil Remediation Standard. We will report that finding to the state within the required 60 days.
These results are helping Dartmouth and its environmental consultant, GZA GeoEnvironmental, formulate a response plan. We will continue to provide updates as additional laboratory data from the collected samples of the soil, groundwater, and related waste become available.
